This piece aims to represent life and death, decay and growth not as opposites but as a continuous entity. It is illustrative of the constant state of flux intrinsic to these concepts by merging living and once-living into one form. Moss has the capacity to go dormant for long periods of time, springing back to life at the touch of water. With this suspended animation, the moss itself illustrates a state of being incongruous with the life/death dichotomy.
